Gawk has increased its market leadership in the roadside outdoor advertising market in Regional Victoria, acquiring an additional 40 billboard locations from Transad. The locations are situated primarily across Regional Victoria, with a handful located in Southern NSW.
All of the billboards included in this transaction are static, with Transad retaining ownership of their three digital billboard locations. Gawk and Transad are committed to developing some new locations together in partnership – with several locations already in the pipeline.
“We could not be more thrilled with this announcement,” said Luke Course, Director of Gawk. “Reg and Michelle have been long-time friends and big supporters as we have grown our business. It is a huge privilege to be able to continue their legacy across Regional Victoria”.
“Transad has enjoyed being part of the Outdoor Media growth in regional Victoria over the last 25 years with the long-standing support of oOh Media”, added Reg Qemal, Director of Transad. “We wish Luke and James and their team all the best for the future and look forward to working with Gawk as they continue their expansion.”
These billboards have been exclusively sold by oOh! Media over the past 12 years. After settlement, the sales will be managed directly by Gawk, although oOh! Media will have access to the sites through their relationship with Gawk.
The Shepparton-based Transad has been built by Reg & Michelle Qemal. Over the past two decades, they have had a huge impact on outdoor advertising in Regional Victoria – having previously sold another portfolio of sites to oOh Media in 2012.
The transaction will close in July 2024, with both parties currently working together on a transition for the billboard assets.
It is estimated that Gawk’s market share of the roadside outdoor advertising market in Regional Victoria will be over 60% when this transaction closes.
